Pokemon has been updating their Pokedex, and until today, there are more than 800 pokemon released in the pokemon universe. The fans aren’t losing any chance to debate, which pokemon is the strongest. Is it Charizard who has a wave of diverse damage attacks? Or the duo legendary pokemon from generation V, Reshiram and Zekrom? Or maybe the unexpected Dragonite from generation I? Who knows? Because many pokemon is considered powerful with many kinds of considerations.
But how about the weakest pokemon?
The most famous weakest pokemon in the pokemon universe is Magikarp, and most fans agree with it. Magikarp, the weakest pokemon not only in the series, but also in the game. In the game, Magikarp only has one move, Splash, that will do nothing to the opponents.
Just like Magikarp, Metapod is also famous for being the weakest pokemon. Because of the same reason, Metapod only has one move, Harden. Trainers need to evolve Metapod into Caterpie to earn move Tackle. It was a hassle to upgrade these two pokemon.
Talking about the weakest pokemon, there are some pokemon that are unexpectedly weak. Even many pokemon fans are shocked when they know about the fact that they are actually a weak pokemon.
So, today we are going to talk about some pokemon that are unexpectedly weak.
Unexpected Weakest Pokemon of All Time
Every pokemon fan surely knows that Alakazam is an indisputable boss. But did they know that powerful Alakazam originally come from a Psychic-type pokemon named Abra? Yep! The high-mighty powerful Alakazam that famous with its mustache is an evolution from the pitiful Abra
Defenseless and feeble, Abra only knows one move, Teleport. With only one move, Abra has made many trainers annoyed when trying to catch it. Once trainers catch it, they need to evolve Abra to Kadabra, that way it will have more moves. Lastly, the worst out of the worst, trainers need to trade with the other trainer to get Abra into its last evolution, Alakazam.
Remember the rocket team? That’s right! The criminal organization with the purpose to steal trainer’s pokemon.
Surprise! This blue looking guy is a member of the rocket team, although it only becomes their sandbag. Even so, Wobbufett always looks happy and says his famous words with a cheerful tone: “Wobbuffet!”
The blue sandbag really did a good job as a sandbag. Wobbufett cannot deal any damage, and it only can absorb attacks from the opponents. Using Counter or Mirror Coat, Wobbuffet can hit back opponents for twice the damage it takes. It looks powerful, but deadly at the same time. If Wobbuffet has great defense stats, this would be impressive. But having great defense stat will not make Wobbuffet become powerful, it still lacks so much. Which means even though your Wobbufett has great defense stat or high HP stat, it will probably be killed in one shot with the opponent’s most powerful attack.
Shuckle has an incredibly high defense at the stat of 230. With a high defense stat, the red turtle pokemon should be strong. Unfortunately, Shuckle has almost no offense and the offense is also taken too poor of a damage. This makes Shuckle extremely frustating and challenging to use in a battle.
Stoutland may be one of the most effective revenge killers in the game. Although it is described as a big-hearted pokemon, Stoutland actually has incredible moves and decent attack stat. But did you know Stoutland is the last evolution stage from Lilipup?
Lillipup is a normal type pokemon that took the form of a puppy. Despite being cute and loved by dog fans, Lilipup itself is considered as one of the weakest pokemon in Unova Region. It does have a solid physical movepool to utilize its 60 attack stat, but Lillipup’s weak defense stat leaves it open to swift retaliation. Even though Lillipup is weak, Trainers still love to catch this puppy pokemon. Other than Lillipup evolve into Stoutland, this puppy pokemon is very loyal to its trainer.
This cloud looking pokemon is a rare case of a legendary pokemon that can evolve. Cosmog can evolve into Lunala or Solgaleo, depending on whether the trainer is on Pokemon Sun or Moon.
Cosmog has a total of 200 base stat and moves like Splash and Teleport making this legendary pokemon undoubtedly the weakest, regardless how Lunala and Solgaleo may eventually become.
You have already seen a list of pokemon that only become powerful when they evolve, and Eevee is one of the most famous wak pokemon that will become powerful after it evolves. Eevee hasn’t failed to make many trainers try so many things, but still failed to make the normal type Eeevee useful. That means trainers who had Eevee always evolve it using stones to make Eevee more powerful.
Being a legendary pokemon doesn’t mean Moltres can be the strongest pokemon. With its being a dual type pokemon, Fire/Flying Type, this legendary bird pokemon can be easily swept aside in the battle by rock-type moves, especially Stealth Rock. Stealth Rock can cause Moltres to lose at least a quarter of its HP.
Aside from rock-type weakness, Moltres is also weak to water-type and electric-type moves. Moltres has poor special defense stat, and that’s made this beautiful bird become one of the weakest legendary birds.
Like Moltres, Articuno is one of the legendary bird pokemon in the pokemon universe. Articuno has a beautiful design that corresponds with its element type. The color blue on Articuno represents its dual element, Ice/Flying Type.
Despite being beautiful and gorgeous, Articuno has many weaknesses. This legendary bird is weak to Stealth Rock, like Moltres, and also weak to Fire type moves. It also has poor speed stat, with only 85 speed. That’s why not many trainers want to catch this beautiful bird, although it’s pretty and gorgeous, Articuno has too many weaknesses and disadvantages.
There are many categories to make a pokemon written in the weakest list having terrible stats, numbers of weakness, bad moves to choose from, or maybe it’s irritating appearances. Geodude has accomplished the three categories and making this pebble pokemon is the weakest.
This Rock type pokemon may be the only pokemon that has no hope in winning against any opponent. Although Geodude has a high stat of physical defense, it didn’t cover up its six different weaknesses, terrible special defense stat, and low speed stat. Nearly every common move in the game can take down Geodude from the Kanto region, making it a waste for a trainer to put this pebble into their team.
Who doesn’t know the legendary Ash’s first pokemon, Pikachu? The series always give this little yellow mouse some credit, so whether you like or hate it, Pikachu will always be there. However, little did everyone knows that the mascot of Pokemon is actually much weaker in the games than in the series?
Althogh most people love Pikachu, a lot of people hates the electric mouse too. Pikachu is too overrated, because in the TV show, they made Pikachu looked so strong. Additionally, Pikachu wasn’t the reason why Pokemon became popular. The honor goes to Mew. The lead developer secretly hid Mew in the first games, causing an explosion of interest once people found out about the mysterious 151 Pokemon.
In the TV Show, Pikachu refuses to evolve. But, this also becomes a real problem when Pikachu refuses to evolve in the game. Pokemon Yellow wouldn’t even let you evolve Pikachu, no matter how much you wanted to. Raichu is objectively the better Pokemon, yet you will be stuck with the inferior Pikachu throughout the entire game.
