Tokyo Revengers release date of second season and visual released

On the Twitter account of the anime adaptation of “Tokyo Revengers” it was announced that the second season of the series will be broadcast on Japanese television from January 2023. You can find a first teaser as well as a visual further down in this article.

Tokyo Revengers second season with old team

The sequel (Tokyo Revengers Season 2), which adapts the “Christmas Showdown Arc” (jap.: “Seiya Kessen-hen”), is once again being directed by Kouichi Hatsumi at LIDENFILMS. Yasuyuki Mutou is again handling the script, while Keiko Oota and Kenichi Oonuki are once again contributing the character design.

The new episodes will feature Masaya Fukunishi (Shisai in “The Rising of the Shield Hero”) as Ken Ryuguji (Draken). This replaces Tatsuhisa Suzuki, who lent his voice to the character in the first season and is currently taking a break from all public activities.

The 24-episode first season of “Tokyo Revengers” aired on Japanese television between April and September 2021. The streaming service Crunchyroll offers all episodes with English and Japanese language output on demand.

The series is based on the manga series of the same name by Ken Wakui, which launched in Kodansha’s “Shuukan Shounen Magazine” in March 2017 and counts 28 volumes so far.

Tokyo Revengers: Storyline

When Takemichi Hanagaki watches the news, he learns that his girlfriend from middle school, Hinata Tachibana, has died. The only girlfriend he ever had has just been killed by a rogue group called the Tokyo Manji Gang. He lives in a shabby apartment with thin walls, and his boss, six years his junior, treats him like an idiot.

He’s also a total virgin… At the peak of his down-to-earth life, he suddenly jumps back in time twelve years to his middle school days! In order to save Hinata and change the life he spent on the run, the hopeless half-wit Takemichi must make it to the top of Kanto’s most sinister criminal gang!
