Already in February 2021 reported that an adaptation of the Reminiscence arc of “The Irregular at Magic High School” (jap.: “Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei”) is in the works. Now new details and a first teaser have been revealed.
The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3
The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc adapts the eighth volume of the original light novel by Tsutomu Satou and will be broadcast on Japanese television in the winter season 2022. Whether this is a series, is still unclear. Studio 8bit (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime), which already produced the second season, is responsible for the implementation.
It is directed by Risako Yoshida (Mahouka: The Girl Who Summons the Stars), who is supported by Jimmy Stone. Munemasa Nakamoto returns as a screenwriter, while Kana Ishida returns to the original character design and serves as Chief Animation Director. The film stars Yuichi Nakamura as Tatsuya Shiba and Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba.
The anime adaptation of “The Irregular at Magic High School” so far consists of two seasons, which comprise 26 and 13 episodes and were broadcast in Japan in 2014 and 2020. In addition, there is a film from 2017 as well as an anime adaptation of the spin-off manga “The Honor at Magic High School”, which ran in the summer season 2021.

Plot of the “Reminiscence” arc:
Looking at Miyuki and Tatsuya now, it’s hard not to think of them as loving siblings. But that wasn’t always the case…
Three years ago, Miyuki always felt uncomfortable near her older brother. The rest of her family treated him like a lower servant, even though he was the perfect guardian to protect Miyuki while she led a normal middle school life. But what really bothered her was that he never showed any feelings or thoughts of his own.
However, when the danger arises during a fateful trip to Okinawa, their relationship as brother and sister will change forever…
