The Japanese TV station TV Asahi recently announced that the manga series “Rent-A-Girlfriend” (jap.: “Kanojo, Okarishimasu”) will get a live-action adaptation, which will be broadcast from July 2022. We summarize all the details known so far.
Broadcast parallel to the second anime season
The live-action adaptation is scheduled to start in parallel with the second season of the anime adaptation and will be seen on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation and TV Asahi. Daisuke Yamamoto (“Ossan’s Love”) is directing and Kumiko Asou (“Marumo no Okite”) is penning the script.
Ryuusei Oonishi (Tsubaki Nakao, “Rokuhodo Yotsuiro Biyori”) from the idol group Naniwa Danshi embodies the character Kazuya Kinoshita in the series, while actress Hiyori Sakurada (Hinami Fueguchi, “Tokyo Ghoul” live-action) takes on the role of Chizuru Mizuhara.
The manga series “Rent-A-Girlfriend,” penned by Reiji Miyajima, has been published in “Weekly Shounen Magazine” since July 2017. The publisher Kodansha has so far published 26 volumes in Japanese stores.
Rent-A-Girlfriend: Main actor
