The streaming provider Netflix announced today that the anime adaptation of the manga series “Record of Ragnarok” (jap.: “Shuumatsu no Valkyrie”) will receive a second season.

Record of Ragnarok Season 2 Release Date Still Pending

Additional details about the sequel, such as a start or release date or the participants in the production team, are still pending. The decision to produce a sequel is said to have been made due to the “overwhelming response from all over the world“.

The twelve-part first season was directed by Masao Ookubo (“PriPara”) at Studio Graphinica (“Hello World, Legend of Mana“). Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (“By the Grace of the Gods”) was responsible for the script, while Masaki Saito was involved as a character designer. Yasuharu Takanashi (“Fairy Tail”) was responsible for the musical accompaniment.

Netflix has been offering all episodes on demand since June 17, 2021, including English and Japanese language versions.

The gods convene a congregation to decide whether to let humanity live or die, and choose the destruction of humanity. But a lonely Valkyrie proposes to let the gods and humanity fight in a final battle, as the last hope for the continued survival of humanity. 13 gods compete against 13 human champions in one-on-one battles to decide whether humanity lives or dies.
