Love Chunibyo and Other Delusions season 3 has always been in talk among the fans, wondering when the adventure will return on screen. Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions also known as Chunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! Is a romance comedy anime that many fans enjoy and love. But it’s been a few years since the season 2 of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions has been released and since then, fans are still eagerly waiting for the season 3 renewal. Without further ado, is Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions season 3 possible?

Love Chunibyo and Other Delusions, A Quick Recap 

Love Chunibyo and Other Delusions, or more commonly known as Chunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! revolves around Togashi Yuta, who tries to start his high school life anew away from his junior high school embarrassment that is the delusions, or known as “Chunibyo.” Stashing away his Chunibyo, where he believed he possessed supernatural powers and proclaimed himself as the “Dark Flame Master.”  

But throwing away his embarrassing past as the Dark Flame Master proved difficult when Rikka Takanashi arrived. She is his new classmate and knows his identity as the Dark Flame Master. A girl suffering from intense Chuunibyou as she believes herself to be the vessel of the all-powerful “Wicked Eye.” Yuta’s desired Chuunibyou-free high school life is changed by her arrival, as he tries to stay away from her delusions and not trying to remember his past days as the Dark Flame Master in a hilarious and comedic story.

Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions is a light novel by Torako with illustrations drawn by Nozomi Osaka. A 12 episode anime was adapted by Kyoto Animations (Free!, & Violet Evergarden) in Fall 2012, airing from October 4, 2012 to December 20, 2012. The show is produced by Lantis (One Punch Man,& Future Diary), Pony Canyon, TBS, Rakuonsha and Animation Do with Sentai Filmworks (No Game No Life,& Akame ga Kill!) as the licensor. 

The series can be considered as one of the most popular light novel adaptations of all time. Considering how it is on the top 100 most popular anime in MyAnimeList, receiving a score of 7.73 among more than 600,000 users. A second season of the anime was released in Winter 2014, airing from January 4, 2014 to March 17, 2014. There are also a couple of spin offs released like the six minute episodes that can be streamed on Youtube along with two theatrical movies. 

The first movie was released on September 14, 2013 titled Takanashi Rikka Kai: Chunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! Movie or known as Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions: Rikka Version. The movie is a summary of the first season of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions from the perspective of Rikka Takanashi that provides new elements. The second movie is titled Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions! Take on Me aired on January 6, 2018 in Japan. It provides a new story that takes place after the second season. 

Despite the popularity that Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions provide, Kyoto Animations still have not announced the possibility of the third season just yet. Though fans should not be discouraged so easily as Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions is one of the most loved shoujo light novels and anime. There is a possibility of the series to be renewed as long as the fans remain enthusiastic and looking forward to it.

As stated above, there has not yet been any announcement regarding the renewal of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions by Kyoto Animations or the producers. But it is too early to draw the conclusion that the anime will not be renewed. Due to the sheer popularity of the series, people and fans alike are still talking about the series. The light novel series also won an honorable mention in the Kyoto Animation Award competition in 2010. 

The first season opening song is titled “Sparkling Dream” by Zaq and the ending theme is titled “Inside Identity” by Black Raison d’etre which consists of the voice actors of the main girls in the series (Maaya Uchida, Chinatsu Akasaki, Azumi Asakura and Sumire Uesaka). There are also three insert songs: “Hajimari no Tane” sung by Zaq, “Kimi no Tonari ni” by Zaq and lastly, “Miagete Goran Yoru no Hoshi o” by Maaya Uchida reprising the role of Takanashi Rikka. 

In conclusion, there is no definitive news about the renewal of Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions just yet. But fans should not be discouraged by this as it doesn’t mean that Kyoto Animation is not going to continue this fan favorite anime.
