Netflix: Kotaro Lives Alone Gets an Anime Adaptation

The streaming provider Netflix recently announced that the manga series “Kotaro Lives Alone” (jap.: “Kotarou wa Hitorigurashi”) will get an anime adaptation. You can find a first teaser video further down in this article.

Kotaro Lives Alone Anime Release Date

“Kotaro Lives Alone” is being directed by Tomoe Makino (“Woodpecker Detective’s Office”) at studio LIDEN FILMS. Yuu Satou (“TONIKAWA” OVA) is handling series composition, while Tomomi Kimura (“Kochoki”) is contributing character design.

Kotaro Lives Alone Anime to be released in spring 2022.

The main cast features Rie Kugimiya (Happy in “Fairy Tail”) as Kotarou Satou and Toshiki Masuda (Eijirou Kirishima in “My Hero Academia”) as Shin Karino. The anime series is scheduled to premiere on the streaming portal in the spring of next year.

The manga series of the same name by Mami Tsumura has been published in “Big Comic Superior” magazine since March 2015. Eight volumes have hit the Japanese market so far.

The story centers on Kotarou Satou, a four-year-old boy who moves next door to unsuccessful mangaka Shin Karino. Kotarou has no parents and lives alone. Not only does he seem to be able to earn a living, but he also seems more demure than his strange neighbors.
