Will there ever be Hundred Season 2? Will we ever get to see it on our screens again?
Hundred is one of the many harem shows that pursue the action genre as it revolves around the mecha theme. The name ‘Hundred’ is actually an advanced weapon being used by humanity to eradicate extraterrestrial organisms known as “Savage” that has long been attacking mankind.
In the midst of the life-threatening chaos, a teenager by the name of Hayato Kisaragi was invited into a prestigious military academy due to the amount of compatibility that he possesses with advanced technology. There, he focuses on honing his skills to become the savior of humanity. However, the journey that he took would not be as easy as it seems due to the number of obstacles that he has to face along the way.
Hundred began life as a Japanese light novel series written by Jun Misaki with illustrations by Nekosuke Okuma. It has been published by SB Creative under their GA Bunko imprint since November 2022, and as of now, the novel series has stopped publishing at the sixteenth volume in October 2018.
The light novel series Hundred was adapted into a manga series illustrated by Sasayuki. It has been serialized in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine since November 2013. Unlike the light novel series, the manga series has only been published in two volumes.
Hundred Season 2 Renewal Status
Not only into manga but the light novel series Hundred has also been adapted into an anime television series animated by Production IMS, the studio best known for their anime releases such as The Testament of Sister New Devil, Date A Live II, Masou Gakuen HxH and last but not least, Hybrid x Heart Magias Academy Ataraxia.
The anime series Hundred premiered on April 5, 2016, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on June 21 of the same year. After the first season has ended, many fans are craving to see the continuation of their beloved series. So, what is the renewal status of Hundred Season 2?
As of now, we haven’t received any news regarding the renewal status of Hundred Season 2. The author nor the studio has said anything about it. However, the show hasn’t been canceled either so there would still be a chance.
Hundred Season 2: Will it be possible?
Unfortunately, Hundred Season 2 would be highly unlikely. The main reason is that the light novel series has already come to an end, meaning that there would be nothing left for the anime to promote or advertise. Not to mention, the sales of blu-ray were not that great, and the adaptation didn’t boost the sales of the novel series that much. There is also no merchandise that the production committee can take profit from.
Furthermore, the studio of the adaptation, Production IMS, has already filed for bankruptcy in 2018. Sure, any studio can easily pick up where the first season has left off, but considering the reasons mentioned above, it would not be feasible.
All that aside, in terms of source material, the studio would have more than enough of it to make Hundred Season 2, as the first season has only managed to cover four out of sixteen volumes of the light novel series. They could easily make two or more seasons with the available material.
The anime series Hundred was also not that popular to begin with and has received a glaring number of negative feedback from the fans. Many of them have stated that Hundred is yet another cliche harem shows that only focuses on the ecchi side of things.
When an extraterrestrial organism known as “Savage” attacks mankind, the only technology capable of combating the enemy is a weapon known as “Hundred.” A survivor of a Savage attack, Hayato Kisaragi is a teenager boasting the highest compatibility level with the aforementioned technology and as a result, is invited to master his skills at Little Garden, a prestigious military academy aboard a battleship.
Over the course of his intense training for the battle ahead, he immediately attracts the interest of multiple female peers and gets drawn into a number of incidents as he tries to fight against the creatures that now inhabit Earth and threaten its safety.
