Sadly, there has been no recent development on Death Parade Season 2 as its release date still remains unknown. But, Madhouse didn’t give out announcement saying that it’s canceling the popular anime series either, so fans can still keep their hopes high.

Due to Death Parade‘s popularity, Madhouse (Highschool of The Dead & Alderamin on the Sky) has announced the Death Parade Season 2 back in 2016. The new season remains in development, and there have been many theories why the Death Parade Season 2 is not released yet.

One, Madhouse (Overlord, Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card, Diamond no Ace & All Out) might be struggling with the lack of content for Death Parade Season 2. Unlike any other anime series that are often based on books and manga, Death Parade is based only on a short film. If they are about to create a follow-up season, they have to make a draft of an entirely new storyline to coincide with the previous season-ending since an actual source is not available.

To others, it was not surprising for Death Parade to be a massive hit since Madhouse is also known for creating large anime hits such as Death Note, One Punch Man, Hunter x Hunter, and more. This fact alone makes fans around the world have high expectations towards Death Parade and its second season.

Decim and Chiyuki

In season 1, Decim started to develop human emotions after he met Chiyuki. After a series of events, Decim decided to reincarnate Chiyuki. The two eventually departed as Chiyuki assumes a new life while Decim remains the bar, welcoming new souls.

While the plot details for Season 2 remains unknown, Madhouse can always explore Decim’s back story to build his character even more. It will also be interesting to see how Decim’s behavior as an Arbiter will change as he’s starting to have emotions towards Chiyuki.

After death, either Heaven or Hell awaits most humans. But for a select few, death brings them to Quindecim—a bar where only pairs of people who die at the same time can enter. Attending the bar is an enigmatic figure known as Decim, who also acts as the arbiter. He passes judgment on those who wind up at Quindecim by challenging them to a life-threatening game. These games determine if the patron’s soul will reincarnate into a new life, or be sent into the void, never to be seen again.

From darts and bowling to fighting games, the true nature of each patron slowly comes to light as they wager their souls. Though his methods remain unchanged, the sudden appearance of a black-haired amnesiac causes Decim to reevaluate his own rulings.
